This alone was totally worth it. Never did I think that in moving to Toronto in October, I would be able to meet Angie Dudley, the woman behind the Bakerella website.
The signing began at noon, but I had learned all about line-ups at the free Scott Pilgrim screening and Q&A with Edgar Wright back in October. So Trevor and I took the subway and arrived downtown just after 10am.
The staff at William-Sonoma are the best! They've obviously done this kind of thing before (forgive me, I've never heard of the store until Bakerella mentioned it on her website and when I finally moved here and saw one for myself), so when I got there, I was sent upstairs to get a number for the line-up. I was #17, which was pretty awesome. Trevor and I wandered around the Indigo bookstore down the street for the next hour and a half before coming back for the signing.
This was my point of view for the whole Q&A. I loved her pink shoes, they were so adorable!
Trevor took this photo of me in-line. I was so focused on watching everyone else ahead of me since I had never been to a signing before and I wasn't sure what to do.
Angie was super sweet. She said that she loved my hat and I told her about how I discovered her website when I was still working in film, during my 14 hours shifts and living in a hotel and wanting to make cake pops more than anything else. She mentioned that it's possible to make them in a hotel as long as there's a microwave, which she's totally done before. I wasn't able to mention that a microwave wasn't available and that it was a very long 6 weeks before I was able to go home because then we got our picture taken both with my camera and her own camera for her website slideshow. After that, I whisked myself out of the way, as an entire line-up of people were waiting patiently behind me.
I must point out also that during the Q&A, there were small moments where I couldn't hear due to other patrons in the store so when I couldn't, I took in my surroundings. It was then that I noticed all the other things that Williams-Sonoma sells and how Angie featured them on her website. I didn't get a picture of them since I figured it would be odd of me to be taking pictures of things around me and not Bakerella talking in front of me, but I saw the Star Wars cookie cutters and totally had a moment of "wow, I need to shop here more often." Lucky for me, there's a Williams-Sonoma in the Yorkdale Mall, which I'm a 5 minute drive from, so I don't have to go downtown to full-fill this need.
Especially since I need to get that little flower-shaped cookie cutter to make my cupcake cake pops.
